A painter, jeweller and goldsmith trained in the Noucentisme style by Francesc Galí and working as a jeweller in his town of Valls, he immersed himself in the landscape of the Alt Camp region. In 1924, he travelled to Paris for the first time, where he saw the works of Cézanne and Matisse, artists influential to his own work with regard to compositional arrangement and colour.
