On the obverse, frontal helmeted and cuirassed bust of Arcadius with a pearl diadem, holding a spear over his right shoulder and, on his left, a shield adorned with a biga. Surrounding the emperor, the legend D(ominus) N(oster) ARCADIVS P(ius) F(elix) AVG(ustus) and a very deteriorated beaded rim. On the reverse, winged Victoria, in profile facing right, seated on a cuirass and with a shield between her hands and the marks XX and XXX inscribed on two lines. Surrounding the figure, the legend NOVA SPES REIPVBLICAE and a very deteriorated beaded rim. On the exergue, CON(stantinopoli) OB(ryzum), i.e. minted in Constantinople and made from pure gold.
