After ascending to the throne alongside Marcus Aurelius, Lucius Verus moved to the East to lead a campaign against the Parthians (162 and 166 AD). In recognition of his victories, he was granted the titles Armeniacus and Parthicus. The legend on the reverse commemorates the fourth distribution of money (congiarium Augusti) carried out by Lucius Verus to his soldiers as reward for their services during the campaign.

On the obverse, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Lucius Verus, surrounded by the legend L(ucius) VERVS AVG(ustus) ARM(eniacus) PARTH(icus) MAX(imus) and a beaded rim. On the reverse, figure of the goddess Liberalitas holding an abacus in her right hand and a cornucopia in her left. Surrounding the figure, the legend CONG(iarium) AVG(usti) IIII TR(ibunitia) P(otestate) VII IMP(erator) IIII CO(n)S(ul) III and a beaded rim.
